2010-07-28 : LOLITA 2010

Long time ago photography stopped being a discipline reserved for a few purists of the technique. The rise of digital cameras, lomo-cameras and other disposable devices have generated a type of photography that goes beyond the forms, seeking spontaneity and above all personality. This is the case with many young photographers, who just turned twenty or twenty-something and have a wonderful portfolio. One great example is Cari Ann Wayman, a Chicago girl obsessed with self-portraits and abandoned stages.

Her photographs represent in a crude way the loss of innocence. With an atmosphere similar to the films from Harmony Korine, the portfolio of Ms. Wayman is a continuous self-portrait with some kind of Lolita-trash style, another example of the American dream's breakdown. Beyond any possible criticism about her technique, Cari Ann proves that she has everything needed to become an excellent representative of the next generation of photographers. Here you can see a selection of the photographs we love from her collection, but if you visit her flickr page you can find more than 1500 pictures, all equally fascinating.
