2009-09-28 : PREVIEW BERLIN 09: PHOTO REPORT
Also titled as "The emerging art fair" and happening at the same time as Art Forum, Preview Berlin is the kind of art fair that really catches our attention. It's obvious that there is a kind of art for each person and each aesthetic taste, and after having previously attended both fairs, we can openly say that Preview Berlin is one of the most exciting art events in Europe. It's not a big fair, but you know: less is more. Specially when the selection of galleries and artists represent a really contemporary point of view on creation and experimentation.
Leaving this aside, the edition of this year has been reduced to a minimum size. Where each gallery had a concrete space for their disposition in a pavilion, this year there was just one big hall with a shared space for all proposals, with only one artist/instalation per gallery. Nothing else. We suppose that's another consecuence of the well-known economical crisis that has affected all kinds of markets. Still we can't consider the Preview Berlin as disappointing, because 95% of the proposals were great pieces, most of them really interesting ideas that represent the real emerging art scene. But we hope it won't turn out into the "submerge art fair" and that next year it will rather return to the concept of the previous editions, instead of decreasing even more.
